Barley Must Have a Guardian Angel

I truly believe that Barley has a Guardian Angel because someone was looking out for us a couple nights ago. David has been studying hard for school and so the last couple of nights he has been out at Tech till about 10:30 every night. With him being busy and with family being in town this month, Barley and I haven't had our daily walk outside. I got home and I decided that Barley and I would go out for our walk. I shortly realized that Barley didn't have his harness or his leash at the house but I was still determined to go outside and walk. I found a broken leash, that didn't have the handle on it but I thought this will work I will just wrap it around my arm. I put the leash on Barley's collar and we went outside. I hate taking Barley on walks with his collar because I don't have as much control over him and so he is mainly walking me and not me walking him.

I was determined so we went on our way. We went down our street and on our normal path when I noticed that about 5 kids were playing down the street. I decided to take Barley to the other side of the street to avoid a mishap. I was trying to get Barley's attention because I wanted him closer to me when we went pass the children. I tugged on the leash and as soon as I tugged, the leash broken, Barley's name tags went every where and Barley was off his leash with a little girl running across the street to see Barley! It was like I was in slow motion but I had to react in the fastest way possible. I grab Barley, pick up the tags, and try to get his leash back on even though it is broken. Some how I was able to get it all done as the little girl asked to pet Barley! I was in a different crazy mind set after that, not paying attention about 7 minutes later I found myself and Barley lost on a different street that I had never been on. Being the smart girl I am, I always take my phone.... I wasn't that smart tonight, and left it on the charger.

To make a long story short, Barley and I made it home 10 minutes later, with a broke leash and no phone. I know that Barley had his angel watching over us because:

1) He didn't attack the little girl running across the street

2) He didn't run away, causing his mother (who is not in shape) to run after him to kingdom come

3) We made it home from being lost in Lubbock (and in our neighborhood which is what is sad)

Plan for our next walk.... Wait for David and Barley's harness!

When Harry Met Sally... LOVE!

Anybody who truly knows me knows that my favorite movie of all times in When Harry Met Sally! I could watch this movie everyday of my life and never hate it. This movie is not only my favorite movie but it holds my all time favorite quote. If you haven't seen the movie and you can only watch 5 minutes watch the very end on the New Year's Eve scene! (there is more than one New Year's Scene so make sure you see the last one) It makes me teary eyed every time. I feel like I'm like Sally because I'm pretty picky about food and other things so sometimes I think he is speaking to me and not Sally......

"I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it take you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

I'm big on Quotes and I think they are great things to read and reflect on. I'm going to try to submit Quotes more to tell what I'm thinking, encourage someone, or just for a laugh. Here is the quote I received today from my next door neighbor in Arkansas Carol and my Mom, I think it has a great message for me and for others to Be Still and Be Satisfied with the Wonderful Life You have been Given:

Today, may you have peace within,
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born
of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are. ___________________________

Marching with Barley

Since it's March and I didn't make a New Year's Resolution to be 88 pounds by Spring I thought I would make a smaller resolution for March. I would love to "March" off the pounds but I thought I would start small. I want to do something active everyday in March. Since it has been beautiful in Lubbock I have decided to take Barley on walks.

He LOVES being able to go outside and go on walks with his mom! I thought I would share his happiness with you!

Day 186 - March 6, 2011 - This is how I spend my Sunday mornings with 18 month old kids. I look forward to working with them before going to Big Church. They are super sweet and they love their snack time! :)

Day 185 - March 5, 2011 - Barley needed some attention and so we went on a walk around the park and throughout neighborhoods. We had a fun time and he was exhausted after our trip.

Day 184 - March 4, 2011 - We were having Game Night with our friends so I tried a new recipe for cookies. They were great.... Hot Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookies. These have 3 cups of different chocolate chips in them and they are super! We hung out with 9 people that night and I think I had 5 cookies left by the end of the night! I will make these again for sure!

Day 183 - March 3, 2011 - My sister bought this for me for my house.... Oh how she knows me so well. This is so true and will compliant my decor! (Sarcasm)
Day 182 - March 2, 2011 - Carter was having one of his last games of the season so we had the family over for Chicken Burritos and chips and dips. We wanted David in the picture and this is what we got!

Day 177 - 181

Day 181 - March 1, 2011 - The start of a new month. One thing that Barley loves is walks with his mom. We enjoyed our walk in 70 degree weather today. (I think he is smiling in this picture)

Day 180 - February 28, 2011 - I watched the kids and we completed a mission project together by making bags with food for the homeless. Each kid put a card in each bag that had John 3:16 & a picture on it! It was a great night.
Day 179 - February 27, 2011 - I took my nieces and nephew to Gnomeo & Juliet after church! It was my first 3D movie experience! The kids had a blast!

Day 178 - February 26, 2011 - Happy Birthday to my Mother-In-Law!
This picture shows you the benefit of going to ATT on a Saturday... I hope my child can one day rock a mullet like this; I would be one proud mother.

Day 177 - February 25, 2011 - It's hard being Barley... TGIF

Project Compassion & Care Through Cars

One of my New Year's Resolution was to do something for someone that they couldn't do for themselves. In Lubbock there are a lot of people that stand on corners needing food. I thought that this could be our project for this year, provide food for them and with the food we could also provide the plan of salvation. I thought that my nieces and nephew would get a lot out of this so I thought that we would make an assembly lineand put the packets together and learn about service all at the same time. I went to Sam's on Saturday and bought cheese & peanut butter crackers, animal crackers, peanuts, water & pretzels. On Monday night I watched the kids and we made pictures on one side of an index card and then we wrote John 3:16 on other and placed a card in each bag of snacks.

Our goal is to help in a small way with people that need food, with the ultimate goal of showing them the love of Christ and that they can have an eternal life through Jesus.

Before we started our assembly line with the kids I told them the purpose of making the bags and asked if we could pray before we started. Caroline said she wanted to pray and this is what she said:
Dear God we pray that the people that get these bags will read our cards and learn more about you. We also pray that they all can find a new home soon.
If that doesn't shake you up, I don't know what will!

Card done by Caroline

This card is really special. I didn't tell the kids what to put on the front I just told them that they could put that Jesus Loves You or a picture of a heart or something, but they were free to draw. Catherine my 6 year old niece was asking us to spell words. I was spelling the words out to her and then she asked me how to spell "wash" so I spelled wash. I began to wonder what she was writing.... to my surprise this is what she wrote, without help in wording it from anyone. PRECIOUS!

Some of the awesome cards
